Red Clay practice through pouring rain
Playing on clay courts is so important and fun. It forces you to get lower to move better and you have to be more patient because it's a slower surface so it's harder to hit winners. Also the bounces vary so it works your reaction. The balls gather clay and fuzz up from the grit so they become heavier which requires you to hit a more full stroke and hit harder thus gaining strength in your whole body. More leg drive is required to get the increased power so they get stronger also. Playing on a wet clay court like today here (with a college player who teaches at this awesome little club) magnifies the slowness and the balls get sooooo heavy and moving can get treacherous !! ha - its great.
